Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh are uncertain for the India England ODI series at home

The same old problems may be catching up with team India upon their return home. As the Indian selectors once again get down to the business of picking India’s squad for the home edition of the India England ODI series, India may not be at full strength even then.
Although the Indian cricket fans decided to tune off from India’s tour of England with injury problems and India’s dismal performance, it would appear that fans may be less kind on the Indian team at home if they are unable to live up their ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 winning performance.
In that the selectors have a tremendous job to do because this selection will not merely be about naming replacement players but rather those that the Indian cricket team should repose faith in as part of the exercise of building the team for the future.
The Indian selection panel headed by Krishnamachari Srikkanth, who was given an extended tenure in the post at the recent BCCI AGM, will sit down to pick India’s squad tomorrow and one can expect that there will be a few headaches when it comes to replacing the senior players who will miss out on the home series.
While Gautam Gambhir is showing signs that he has recovered from the concussion he suffered in England by leading the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the Champions League Twenty20 2011, there is no word on the progress made by Virender Sehwag since that troubled shoulder caused him to join the Indian team in England only after the second Test only to return after the fourth Test. Yuvraj Singh’s finger injury still remains a mystery and it seems unlikely that he may be fit just yet to play which means replacements will be in order.
Sachin Tendulkar is already on the sidelines with a toe injury that has forced him out of the Mumbai Indians captaincy of the Champions League Twenty20 2011 after he had already withdrawn from the ODI series in England. The absence of both, Sehwag and Tendulkar, will mean that India will have to look for someone to partner Gambhir in the opening slot and it will be interesting how the selectors decide this time between Murali Vijay, Parthiv Patel who opened in England or someone else they deem worthy of a home trial such as Ajinkya Rahane who impressed on the England tour.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni complained of fatigue midway through the India England Test series and was even speculated as having sore fingers due to wicket keeping duties. However, with him playing in the Champions League Twenty20 2011, it is only unlikely that the Indian captain can expected to be rested, particularly with the series being staged at home.
One of the key players whose selection will be monitored would be Harbhajan Singh. While Bhajji suffered an abdominal strain in the course of the Test series, the fact that he missed out on the India England ODI series in England was attributed to the Indian selectors dropping the off spinner for want of form. Although Harbhajan Singh staged a rather quick recovery and is leading the Mumbai Indians team in the absence of Tendulkar, one wonders if the selectors will indeed decide to look elsewhere.
The fast bowling department remains a mystery with Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma on the injured list while Praveen Kumar seems to be the obvious choice. No word on Munaf Patel’s injury either so, a few young fast bowlers may fancy their chances of being selected.Ashish Nehra continues to remain a question mark and it will be interesting if the Indian selectors consider him this time round.

Tendulkar moves into his new dream house

Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday fulfilled his long cherished dream of living in a house of his own as he moved into a sprawling bungalow at Perry Cross Road in suburban Bandra.
Tendulkar has shifted his residence from La Mer Housing Society, also in Bandra west, to the spacious villa that is spread over 6,000 square feet.

“Everyone has a dream of owning a house. I, too, had this dream. I am happy that I was able to fulfill it. The flat where I earlier used to live, I had received it under the sports quota. I have now vacated that place, so that some other sportsman can live there,” he said.

“We had done the 'gruha shanti' and 'vastu-puja' on July 11, before I left for England. I could not visit Mumbai after that, but now that I am in the city, today I brought my mother to show the place,” the senior cricketer said.
“I have lived here after the puja. But I have not been able to bring the children here yet,” he said.
The batting maestro's new home has been reconstructed on a plot that housed a dilapidated bungalow, which Sachin had bought for Rs 39 crore in 2007.

The villa has been secured with high-walled fencing to avoid curious onlookers. CCTV cameras and sensors have also been installed.Besides the three storeys above the ground level, the villa, designed keeping in mind Tendulkar's likes and dislikes, reportedly has two underground basements.According to the sources close to Tendulkar, 90 per cent of the shifting process has been done.

STEVEN WAUGH ON SACHIN

He is getting older day by day,But Sachin Tendulkar is getting better with every passing day, former Australia captain Steve Waugh said.

Sachin is improving every passing day and with prime form and Looking at the way Tendulkar is playing,it seems he can play till 50 years." Steve Waugh had earlier compared Tendulkar with Sir Don Bradman.

On Coaching interest, the Australian great say he is not thinking about coaching now...Maybe in future,I will think about coaching.

Waugh also praised India's South African coach Gary Kirsten's way of work while describing the jobs of a captain and a coach.

The captain is always the boss on the field, as he has to be on the spot. The coach on the other hand plays a supporter's role quietly. Look at Kirsten. He goes on about his job very quietly which is exactly the coach's role. S Waugh termed Indians as favorites to defend the title in the second edition of the ICC World Twenty20 due in England in June.

Indians have a very good side. The youngsters are really impressing and the IPL has done good for them.

2011 world cup movements

Sachin Tendulkar, who's played six World Cups, on his best moment.
"I took a quite few decisions tonight, if we hadn't won I would have been asked quite a few questions: Why no Ashwin, why Sreesanth, why no Yuvraj, why did I bat ahead?! That pushed me and motivated to do well"

MS Dhoni puts a light spin on his selection decisions ahead of India's title win.
"This is unbelievable. The Under-19 World Cup, then the World Twenty20 but this is the most special. For Sachin, for everyone else."

Yuvraj Singh, the Player of the Tournament, sums it up.
"Very proud of everyone, especially Mahela who rose up to the occasion and put up a great hundred. When you look at this Indian team anything less than 350 looks less! They deserved this title, the way they played in front of a great crowd."

Gautam Gambhir, who gave India the upper hand in the final with his 97.
"It means the world to me. I have been part of the three World Cups. This is for the nation. Thank you very much, we love you. This cup is for the people. Love you India!"

Harbhajan Singh was among several Indian players who shed a tear following India's victory.
"This goes out to all the people of India. This is my first World Cup; I can't ask for more. Tendulkar has carried the burden of nation for 21 years; It was time we carried him. Chak de India!"

Virat Kohli leads the Tendulkar tributes.
